How to Join our Blog Network?

MyOrbit.tv “Blog Network” is a network of blogs on various business topics by professionals worldwide, who are also members of this channel. Each member benefits by increased visibility of their viewpoints, and our audience benefit by getting a range of inputs from diverse professionals right here on MyOrbit.tv

The following diagram describes the concept. We expect to have 100+ business/profession focused blogs in our network by the end of 2007.  Many of them will be integrated into our site, so you will be able to navigate seamlessly from topic to topic – even though each topic is run by a different professional. We are at the start of it, and we think it will be very useful to our viewers.

Do you want to be part of our Blog Network? We are looking to add new members, which fills the entire matrix below, and you could focus on any area/areas that you follow closely.

So if you are looking run a blog with global exposure, this could be your opportunity. Let us know which topic(s) you follow closely, and whether you already have a blog or whether you want to co-author/participate in existing blogs or Groups .

If you have your own blog, you can continue to run that. Otherwise, you can contribute on one of our existing blogs and a relevant ’Industry Group’ on MyOrbit.tv – and that includes this blog as well, which is about applying new media to business – trends, challenges, and success stories. We would rather have this blog as a worn out pavement than an untouchable shrine like some of the CEO Blogs on the web.

Whether you run your own thing or use our platform, you should publish 2 posts per week (text/ audio/ video) to be included – because such a level of activity is required to run a live source of information/insights with a regular audience. If this sounds exciting to you, then we will be happy to show you a couple of interesting options along with an attractive reward.  To express your interest, email Shankar at: connect[at]myorbit.tv  with ‘MyOrbit.tv Blog Network’ as the subject.

Internet World 2007 opens tomorrow

Internet World 2007 opens tomorrow at Earls Court in London, and it will be worth spending a few hours there for MyOrbit.tv. The event will happen from May 1 to 3, and will be the biggest of its kind in Europe this year. We will get to see a variety of Internet devices and technologies.

We have a keen interest on any new products/trends for Internet payments (we have been hearing micro payments for a while, but tangible applications aren’t there yet), security technolgies (this field is really vast), collaboration and Web2.0 applications.

The big players like Google, Yahoo, MSN will be there, and it will be interesting to see what they are making of the new offerings.  We will share some highlights on this blog later this week.

Online Video Ads have big growth ahead

A study by Insight Express carried out for Advertising.com (the number one online advertiser) found that news and video streams were the most popular types of content for viewers.

  • News clips were favored by 48% respondents
  • Music videos were preferred by 47%
  • Movie trailers were next with 32%

While ads pay for some of the content that drove streaming growth last year, eMarketer senior analyst David Hallerman believes that the market for streaming ads may have built in limits.

“The current video ad inventory shortages both create higher CPMs and hold back a fuller flourishing of this market”

Last year in June 2006 McKinsey & Co. reported that Internet video ads were 80% sold out in 2005! “Assuming that marketers don’t increase the number of ads they place in each video stream, the maximum supply of video ads is currently about $600 million a year – far less than future demand,” noted McKinsey & Co.

My conclusion is that those new media players, who can make the production of video ads easy, have an opportunity to exploit. Microsoft Movie Maker is the easiest so far. But there is a need for better-effect templates that can make video editing on microsoft platforms easy for the marketing teams of most non-tech savvy companies. And once that is done, the growing presence of established Internet video channels like www.Youtube.com and niche channels like www.MyOrbit.tv (for business) make it easier to reach large or focused audience.
